Mara’s Story
Mara arrived at our office with her parents and five siblings, including an infant. They had not eaten in two days. The family of eight was living in their car after being denied emergency shelter.
Advocacy Director Steve Matthews acted quickly. He appealed the denial and obtained emergency shelter for the family within 24 hours. A generous donor provided food, a motel, and gas money. Despite their best efforts, our neighbors can find themselves in terrible circumstances. Because of your generosity, Mara and her family are now living in an apartment. Mara is safe, secure, and hopeful about her future.
