2011 Golf Tournament Raises Almost $50KTHANK YOU! thank you! thank you! For 14 years we have been humbled by the kindness and generosity of individuals and sponsors who have supported the Nancy King Memorial Golf Tournament and this year was no exception. Almost $50,000 was raised from sponsorships, registration, a live and silent auction, raffle and several on-course contests, including a 50/50 hole, longest drive and closest to the pin. For Nancy's sisters, Eileen King Coburn and Mary Ellen King, who attended the event, it was a time to reflect upon Nancy's legacy, now 35 years old. And although they couldn't be there in person, Nancy's nieces and nephews each donned a 2011 Nancy King Memorial Golf Tournament t-shirt to commemorate the occasion. Auctioneer, Jack Agnew, engaged the crowd during the live auction, particularly when it came to seeking bids for the "Betsy Cooks" item. High bidders Alan Aaron and Renee Curtin each paid $400 for a gourmet dinner for six prepared in their own homes. Jack was unyielding in his efforts to garner support for a Northeastern Co-op student position. Before the group departed for dinner, 19 people had pledged a total of $3,350- roughly half of a Co-op student's stipend. Fundraising committee co-chairs Michael Leon and Bob Molloy kicked off the bidding with generous pledges of their own. The tournament is one of two annual fundraising events we hold and the one that we count on to bring in the most revenue. We need your help to make this event a success! Tournament sponsors and participants enjoy varying levels of benefits which include a round of golf, cart, golfers’ gift, dinner and the use of the locker rooms, driving range and putting green. The day culminates with a cocktail hour, dinner and a live and silent auction.
